About

Catchlight Camera Club was formed in September 2012 by a small group of keen photographers, both amateur and professional, from beginners to advanced. It was intended to function as a small and friendly club, with a 'cap' on the total number of members - currently set at 65 members. The Club is affiliated to both the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) and the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) in the South. Catchlight Camera Club competes in the Top Club Competition in both jurisdictions, being Top Club in the North and 2nd in the South last year.

Catchlight was the first and only Camera Club from Northern Ireland to win silverware in a National Competition - winning the Plate at the PAGB Print Championships, and the GB Cup for small clubs. We also became the first Club from NI to compete in the final of the Print Championships, coming 5th overall in 2014. Since then, we have competed in the Final of the Print Championships in 3 of the last 4 years, coming 4th in 2017.

We regularly host Top Name speakers from all over the UK and Ireland, and these events are open to all, whether camera club members or not. The Club tries to keep these events free entry, but this may have to be reviewed depending on increased costs in the future.

We aim to assist our members improve the standard of their photography, to gain Photographic Distinctions, and to actively participate in photographic competitions and Exhibitions. The Club has an ethos that members should help and encourage each other, in order that everyone will progress and improve. "One for all and all for One"
